Lucknow: Ganga Expressway is going to prove to be a milestone in the infrastructure development of the state. The Ganga Expressway connecting Eastern UP to Western UP will directly connect the National Capital Region (NCR). The important thing is that when the land was being purchased for the Ganga Expressway, the corona wave was at its peak in the whole country. Despite this, in just one year, 94 percent land has been purchased from 83 thousand farmers for Ganga Expressway. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway project in Shahjahanpur district on 18 December.
The state government had on November 26 last year approved the 594 km long Ganga Expressway project at a cost of Rs 36,230 crore. About 7386 hectares of land is required for the project, in which more than 90 percent of the land has been purchased from 71,621 farmers in the last four months. So far, 94 per cent of the land has been procured from a total of 82,750 farmers. About 18,55,000 saplings will be planted along the expressway for environmental protection. Along with this, energy will be produced through solar power on the land acquired in the project, which will meet the energy required for the operation of the project.

Ganga Expressway will write a new script for the development of Western UP. More than half of the expressway is passing through West’s Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur districts. Another bridge will be built at Garhmukteshwar for the movement of people from other districts including Hapur and Bulandshahr.
Expressway to be helpful as an industrial corridor
The Ganga Expressway will boost the income of agriculture, commerce, tourism and industries along with social and economic development. Apart from this, it will be helpful as an industrial corridor connecting various production units, development centers and agricultural production areas with the national capital. The expressway will act as a catalyst for the establishment of food processing units, warehouses, mandis and milk based industries.
Airstrip to be built in Shahjahanpur district
An airstrip is also to be built in Shahjahanpur district for emergency landing and take-off of Air Force aircraft on the Ganga Expressway. Along with this, nine public convenience centers, seven railway over bridges, 14 major bridges, 126 minor bridges and 381 underpasses will be built for the convenience of the people. Interchange facility will also be provided at 17 places for entry and exit on the expressway. A service road will also be built for the residents of the villages around the project.
