New Delhi: Ahead of the UP elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today laid the foundation stone of Banas Dairy of Banaskantha District Milk Producers Union Ltd in Gujarat’s Karkhianv in his parliamentary constituency Varanasi and gifted 27 different projects costing about Rs 2100 crore to the region. This is Modi’s second visit to Varanasi in the last 10 days. Along with this, Modi also took a jibe at the opposition. He said that some people have created such a situation that it is a crime to talk about cow.
It is to be known that in Varanasi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that some people have created such a situation that some people have made it a crime to talk about cow, cow dung in our place. Cow can be a crime for some people, for us cow is mother, is worshipped.

He said that the milk production in the country has increased by about 45% as compared to 6-7 years ago, today India produces about 22% of the world’s milk. I am happy that today UP is not only the largest milk producing state in the country but it is also very ahead in the expansion of dairy sector.
At the same time, the Prime Minister first laid the foundation stone of ‘Banas Dairy Plant’ at Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority Food Park in Karkhianv. This dairy will be built in an area of about 30 acres at a cost of Rs 475 crore and will produce five lakh liters of milk per day. The Prime Minister transferred a bonus of about Rs 35 crore to more than 170,000 milk producers associated with Banas Dairy through digital medium in their bank accounts.
He also laid the foundation stone of a bio gas based power generation plant of ‘Milk Producers Cooperative Union’ at Ramnagar, Varanasi. Apart from this, a portal related to ‘Conformity Assessment Scheme’ for milk producers was inaugurated and its logo was also released. The Prime Minister also inaugurated several projects related to urban development. (with agency input)
