Mumbai: A plan has been made to connect Mumbai Metro with Navi Mumbai Metro. The operation of the first phase of Navi Mumbai Metro is also going to start soon. Metro Railway Safety Commissioner’s approval is awaited for its commercial operation. With this, the plan to connect Navi Mumbai Metro with Mumbai Metro is being worked out. CIDCO has sent such a proposal to MMRDA.
There are three metro rail networks proposed in Navi Mumbai. The construction work of the first line Belapur-Taloja-Kalamboli-Mansarovar is going on. The second line will connect the proposed Navi Mumbai Airport with Uran including Panvel and Seawoods.
Metro will be connected in Mankhurd
A third line is planned to connect the airport with the Mumbai Metro line at Mankhurd. According to a senior MMRDA official, a plan is proposed to connect Navi Mumbai Metro with Mumbai Metro, but no decision has been taken so far. According to Cidco, the metro connectivity between the two cities will boost the traffic.

MTHL access
The construction work of Mumbai Trans Harbor Link to connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai is in progress. About 65 percent of its work has been completed. MMRDA and CIDCO may use MTHL for metro rail corridor from Nhava to Sewri. It is noteworthy that in the past, MMRDA Commissioner SVR Srinivas had also expressed the possibility of using MTHL for multi transport. The deck being built on MTHL is also planned to be used for sea tourists.
