- National Pulse Polio Vaccination Campaign on 23rd January
Gondia, Children in the age group of 0 to 5 years will be given polio doses on January 23 in the district. In order to ensure that no child is deprived of polio vaccination, the District Collector Nayana Gunde gave instructions in the district level meeting of the Polio Vaccination Committee.
District Health Officer Dr. Nitin Kapse, Additional District Health Officer Dinesh Sutar, Nagpur Divisional Coordinator of World Health Organization Dr. Sajid, Resident Medical Officer Dr. B. D. Jaiswal, District Mother and Child Interviewing Officer Anant Chandewar, all Tehsil Health Officers and all Health Supervisors were present.
The meeting was organized to make the vaccination campaign successful in the district. In the district, 1,09,202 beneficiaries in the age group of 0 to 5 years would be given polio doses. There will be 92,007 beneficiaries in rural areas and 17,195 in urban areas. For this, 1 lakh 40 thousand doses will be required and during the campaign period, the vaccine will be delivered directly to the primary health centers of the district by cold chain vehicle.
A total of 1494 vaccination booths in 1295 rural and 119 urban areas will be vaccinated against polio. Bivalent vaccine will be used in this campaign. On the day of the campaign, at the booth and thereafter, the beneficiaries are planned through IPPI for three days in rural areas and five days in urban areas. Transit teams have been organized at bus stands, railway stations, toll plazas, airports as per the requirement of the beneficiaries.
There will be 56 teams in which 50 will be in rural areas and 6 in urban areas. Mobile teams have also been formed in the district where there is a possibility of being a beneficiary. A total of 26 mobile teams will work in the district, 24 in rural areas and 2 mobile teams in urban areas. 90 vehicles are required during this campaign. According to which 58 vehicles belong to the health department and 38 vehicles will be acquired from other departments.
Keeping in view the outbreak of COVID-19 in the district, the District Health Officer Dr. Nitin Kapse informed about the rules like wearing masks regularly, washing hands frequently, maintaining a distance of at least six feet between two persons etc. .
