Paytm partners with IRCTC: Digital payments company Paytm has partnered with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to provide digital ticketing services to consumers through Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) installed at railway stations across the country. Paytm gave this information on Thursday.
This is the first time that Indian Railways is providing digital payment option for providing ticketing services through UPI on ATVMs to encourage cashless travel among railway passengers.
QR codes to be scanned on ATVMs installed at railway stations
There are ATVM touch screen based ticketing kiosks installed at railway stations, through which passengers will be able to make digital payments without smart cards.
Passengers will be able to buy unreserved train tickets, platform tickets, renew seasonal tickets and recharge their smart cards by scanning the QR codes generated on the screen.

Completely cashless travel will be possible
A Paytm spokesperson said, “As the company that has pioneered the QR code revolution in India, we are delighted to take this step towards making ticketing easier at all railway stations. In partnership with IRCTC, we are bringing Paytm QR solutions to ATVM machines of Indian Railways. Through this it will be possible for the passengers to travel completely cashless.”
How to use the new digital payment feature on ATVM
Select a route for ticket booking or enter a smart card number for recharge on ATVMs located at the nearest railway station.
Select Paytm as payment option.
Scan the QR code that appears in front of you to complete the transaction with ease.
-Based on the selection, you will get a ticket or your smart card will be recharged.
