A part of Pakistan is facing shortage of water. Residents of Landhi and Korangi in Karachi are facing water shortages these days. On Monday, local residents took to the road and demonstrated against the scarcity of water in the area. The protesters gathered outside the office of the Managing Director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board and showed placards and shouted slogans.
In a video of SAMAA TV, these people were also seen participating in the demonstration, who were holding slogans of ‘Pani do, pani do’ with placards in their hands. One of the protesters said that in this hot weather there is not a single drop of water in our pipelines. The water that the water board is supplying should be given to the commercial areas. The protestor said that these people only want to earn money at the cost of our suffering.
Supply stopped due to pipeline explosion
By the time this news came on Monday, none of the officials of KWSB (Karachi Water and Sewerage Board) had spoken to the protesters nor responded to their complaints. Earlier in the day, water supply to Karachi was suspended after a pipeline burst at Dhabezi pumping station.
The supply of water in the city was stopped due to the explosion of the pipeline. A spokesman for the KWSB (Karachi Water and Sewerage Board) said that the areas most affected by the pipeline explosion are Gulshan-e-Hadid, Pipri, Qaidabad, Malir, Shah Latif Town, Landhi and Korangi.
Corona problem with water
The third wave of Corona is a bigger problem facing Pakistan than water. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Sunday that the third wave of the Corona virus epidemic would be far more dangerous than the previous two. He warned that if people do not follow the guidelines, then their government will be forced to impose strict restrictions.
He said that people are not taking precaution while exiting, this can have dangerous effects and the virus infection can spread rapidly. Let me tell you that Prime Minister Khan became infected with the Corona virus last month. His wife Bushra Bibi was also found to be Corona positive. A week later, President Arif Alvi and Defense Minister Parvez Khattak were also infected with Corona.
