Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi has approved the dissolution of the National Assembly on the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The official notification for dissolution of the National Assembly has been issued. According to a press release issued by the President’s Office, Pakistani President Arif Alvi has accepted PM Imran Khan’s recommendation to dissolve the National Assembly (Parliament) under Article 58(1) of the Constitution.
Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farooq Habib said that Parliament has been dissolved and now fresh elections will be held within the next 90 days i.e. three months. Earlier, the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was rejected in the Parliament of Pakistan.
No-confidence motion rejected in Parliament
Voting was to be held on the no-confidence motion brought against the Pak PM on Sunday, but Pakistan’s National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri rejected the no-confidence motion alleging foreign conspiracy and did not allow voting in the House. The Deputy Speaker has adjourned the proceedings of the Parliament till April 25. The opposition is strongly opposing it, calling it a violation of the Constitution.
Imran recommends dissolution of Parliament
Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Sunday that he had advised President Arif Alvi to dissolve the National Assembly (Parliament) after the no-confidence motion was rejected and called for fresh elections. In a brief address to the nation, Khan said he has advised President Alvi to dissolve the assemblies. Minutes before his announcement, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri rejected the no-confidence motion against Khan, calling it against Article 5 of the Constitution.

Suri presided over a crucial session of parliament after the opposition moved a no-confidence motion against Speaker Asad Qaiser. When the members of the opposition reached the house, they appeared confident about the no-confidence motion, but after the motion was rejected, they opposed the decision. Congratulating the people of the country for rejecting the no-confidence motion in his address, Khan said that the deputy speaker rejected the attempt to change power and foreign conspiracy.
Fresh elections in 90
Imran said that such a big conspiracy which was being done from the country has failed today. He said the no-confidence motion rejected by the Speaker of the National Assembly was an outside-planned no-confidence motion. Minutes later, the leader of the ruling party advised the Election Commission to hold fresh elections.

He said elections would be held within 90 days. Chaudhary said that the cabinet has been dissolved. He tweeted that the Prime Minister will continue his responsibilities under Article 224 of the Constitution, the cabinet has been dissolved.
The opposition needs the support of 172 out of 342 members to oust Khan from the government, while he claims to have the support of 177 members. Khan came to power in 2018 with a promise to create a ‘Naya Pakistan’ and is now at a critical juncture in his political career as his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party has lost majority. Two of his allies also withdrew support to the government and joined hands with the opposition camp.
