Chinese Video Making App TikTok Banned in Pakistan: Pakistan has banned Chinese video making app TikTok. This decision has been taken by the country’s media regulatory agency on Thursday. Earlier, two lawyers had moved the court and claimed that pornographic material was being spread through this app (TikTok Banned in Pakistan). About six months ago, the Pakistani regulatory agency banned ‘Tiktok’ because it received complaints that the social media app contained alleged unethical and obscene content.
The agency, in a brief statement, said that it had banned ‘Tiktok’ while serving the order of the Peshawar High Court. Apart from this, the agency did not provide any further details (TikTok Banned in Pakistan). The Peshawar High Court said that it has acted on the pleas of lawyers Nazish Muzaffar and Sara Ali. He requested in his petition that the video-sharing app be kept blocked until he complied with the instructions and guidelines given by the Pakistani media mnemonic last year.
Ban was removed earlier
Just three months ago, Pakistan lifted the ban on Tiktok. This step was taken after the company operating it assured to control ‘unethical content’ (Pakistan TikTok Banned). Pakistan Telecom Authority (PTA) had banned TikTok on October 9 after receiving several complaints of unethical content. However, once the ban is lifted, it has been banned once again.

What did the PTA say then?
The PTA had tweeted and said, “It has been decided to lift the ban after the management (TickTalk) has assured that they will block all accounts that spread obscenity and immorality.” Tiktok will improve the account as per local laws (Pakistan TikTok Banned). ‘ Earlier, the PTA had alleged that the video app operating company had failed to curb pornographic and unethical content despite objections several times.
