Mumbai: The third wave of Corona is now slowly becoming dangerous. The demand for oxygen in the state has reached close to 450 metric tonnes. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope had already said that strict lockdown would be required if the demand for oxygen crosses 700 metric tonnes.
As per the information received, the demand for medical oxygen on January 5 was 430 MT, out of which 111 MT was utilized for the patients. About 750 metric tons of oxygen was produced that day. However, after January 5, the number of patients in the state is increasing rapidly. Before January 5, the demand for oxygen was falling to 370 metric tonnes or less, but later this demand kept increasing rapidly.

Abhay Pandey, President, All Food and Drugs License Holders Foundation, said that with the increase in the number of patients, the demand for medical oxygen is also increasing. The demand for oxygen has increased in the last three days. However, at present, the state government has 11 thousand metric tonnes of oxygen in storage. Earlier, Health Minister Rajesh Top had said that strict lockdown would be required if the demand for medical oxygen reaches 700 metric tonnes per day. The eyes of the government are on the increasing cases and oxygen. If patients continue to increase in this way, then next week the government can take a firm decision.
