World Top Universities: Classes have been affected all over the world due to the Corona epidemic and most educational institutions are running online. Amidst all this, for the fifth consecutive year, India’s position in the top 200 universities of the world has not changed. Apart from IIT-Bombay, IIT-Delhi and Bangalore’s Indian Institute of Science (IISc) from India, no Indian institute has been included in the top-200. According to the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR), this situation has remained constant since 2017.
In the QS ranking, after the top-200, if we talk about the top-1000, then there has not been much change in India’s position. In this ranking, 21 institutions from India have been included in the top-1000, which were 23 in 2020, 24 in 2019 and 20 in 2018. According to a statement issued by QS, Indian universities have improved themselves in terms of academic reputation and research effectiveness, but the situation is still not better in terms of teaching capacity. No institute in the country is in the top 250 in the faculty-student ratio.
