Mumbai: While traveling on the Mumbai-Nagpur Samridhi Expressway, drivers will have to keep their pockets very loose. If you want to travel on this Green Expressway, you will have to pay a minimum one-way toll charge of Rs 1.73 per km per km.
According to the proposal prepared by MSRDC, a total of Rs 1,212 will be charged as toll for one way from Mumbai to Nagpur while traveling by car or jeep on the Samridhi Expressway. In this way, more than Rs 2,424 will have to be spent as toll on both sides. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation is building India’s longest 701 km Green Expressway between Mumbai and Nagpur.
Kilometer wise toll
The toll will be charged according to the number of kilometers you want to travel between the state capital and the sub-capital. If one is traveling between Mumbai, Nashik or Aurangabad, light vehicles will be charged Rs 1.73 per km. According to the list of toll rates, the one-way toll between Mumbai and Nagpur for second class light commercial vehicle, goods vehicle or minibus will be Rs 2.79 per km which will be Rs 1,955 for the entire route. The third class is buses and trucks (two-axle) which will be charged Rs 5.85 per km or Rs 4,100. In the heavy vehicles category, three-axle commercial vehicles will attract a toll of Rs 6.38 per km or Rs 4,472. Trailers carrying heavy construction machinery will have to pay Rs 9.18 per km or Rs 6,435. Apart from this, toll for one kilometer for large size motors or multi axle (seven or more axles) and Rs 7,830 between Mumbai and Nagpur will be charged.
There will be 26 toll booths
It is reported that there will be 26 toll booths in the entire section between Mumbai and Nagpur. MSRDC has invited tender for appointment of agency for toll collection on Expressway.
First section till March-April
According to MSRDC Joint MD Chandrakant Pulkundwar, it is expected to open the Nagpur-Aurangabad-Shirdi section of the expressway by March or April 2022 and the entire section by the end of the year. According to the Joint MD, after the approval of the state government, the proposal of toll charge will now be gazetted a few days before the commencement of the expressway. 95 percent work has been done on this section. It was targeted to open by December 2021, but has been delayed due to Corona and other reasons. The process of setting up facilities like petrol pump, hotel etc. is also going on at Samridhi.
