New Delhi: The cases of ‘Omicron’, a new form of corona virus infection in Delhi, have increased to 165. This information was given in the updated data released by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday. According to the city’s health department, 331 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Delhi on Monday amid the rising outbreak of ‘Omicron’, which is the highest number of cases reported in a day since June 9.
At the same time, the daily infection rate also increased to 0.68 percent. According to the updated data released by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday, 653 cases of ‘Omicron’ nature have been reported in 21 states and union territories of India, out of which 186 people have become healthy or have migrated to other places.

According to the data, Maharashtra has the highest number of 167 cases of ‘Omicron’ format. After this, 165 cases have been reported in Delhi, 57 in Kerala, 55 in Telangana, 49 in Gujarat and 46 in Rajasthan. According to Batra Hospital officials, five Omicron patients are admitted in the hospital. The genome sequencing report of the other seven hospitalized infected is yet to come. Apart from these, seven people who were found infected with ‘Omicron’ were discharged from the hospital after recovery.
Officials said none of them showed any signs of infection, although all had traveled recently. Of the 14 hospitalized patients, 11 have received three doses of Pfizer’s anti-Covid-19 vaccine. One infected had vaccinated ‘Johnson & Johnson’, while the other two were vaccinated against ‘Covishield’ and ‘Covaccine’, respectively.
Sources said that four suspected patients of ‘Omicron’ are also admitted in the Municipal Hospital unit of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Of these, two are individuals from France, one from Britain and one from Ghana. The report of genome sequencing of their samples is yet to come. At the same time, the information of patients admitted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital is not yet available.
The first case of ‘Omicron’ was reported in Delhi on December 5. A 37-year-old man who returned from Tanzania to Delhi was found infected. Now he has been discharged from the hospital. (agency)
