- Decision taken after cancellation of PCCC proposal
Nagpur. In view of the possibility of the third wave of corona coming, the order to keep the health facilities ready in the rural parts of the district was recently given by the Divisional Commissioner Prajakta Lavangare Verma. He had held a meeting with the Pediatric Task Force and directed to reserve beds for the children suffering from corona.
Its preparations are being made in all the tehsils on behalf of the Zilla Parishad Health Department. ZIP Vice President and Health Committee Chairman Sumitra Kumbhare has given instructions to the officers to increase the quality of COVID Care Center in rural hospitals of all tehsils. He said that there could also be a risk of a new variant in the third wave.
Also, children may be most affected in this potential wave. In view of this, instructions have been given to reserve at least 15 percent beds for the afflicted children in all rural hospitals. He told that with the help of Animal Promotion Minister Sunil Kedar, all the facilities are being updated in the rural hospitals of all the 13 tehsils.
COVID care center not approved in PHC
He said that under the National Health Mission, a proposal was sent to the government to start a 10-bed Pediatric COVID Care Center (PCCC) in 1-1 PHC of all 13 tehsils. A total fund of Rs 7.62 crore was demanded for each center at the rate of Rs 58.61 lakh. But since the first aid facility is provided to the citizens in PHC, the government did not approve the COVID Care Center in PHC.
The government said that if the PHC is made a COVID center, then other citizens cannot be treated. The Vice President said that after the cancellation of the proposal of PCCC, Minister Sunil Kedar directed to make arrangements for the children in 13 Rural Hospitals (RH) of 13 tehsils. A 100-bed COVID Care Center has been planned at the Tehsil level.
Timely treatment preferred
Kumbhare said that in the third wave, the priority is to provide the right treatment to the infected immediately and on time. Preparations are being made in this regard. The responsibility of providing basic facilities in the centers rests with the Tehsildar, the responsibility of supplying staff and medicines lies with the Zip Health Department. The planning of the department has been completed. As soon as there is a need to start CCC, it will be started immediately.
In view of the danger of small children, instructions have been given to reserve up to 15 percent beds in each center as per the requirement. Apart from this, 25-30 oxygen concentrators will be made available in each centre. If the number of infected increases, then CCC will be started where needed. He said that the health machinery in the district is fully equipped and ready.
