Pakistan PM Imran Khan Approves the Establishment of Civil Drone Authority: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved the formation of the Civil Drone Authority. His office has given information about this. This decision has been taken after a meeting of officials held in Islamabad. The statement said that the authority will establish an institutional mechanism to facilitate the development and control of drone technology in Pakistan. Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said that it is the need of the hour to provide employment in drone technology for commercial, research, development, agriculture and other peaceful purposes.
This authority will control the Unmanned Aircraft System in Pakistan. According to the statement, the CDA will also decide on the matters that will be related to licensing, importing, manufacturing, testing and issuing permits for drones. CDA’s responsibility also includes developing standards related to drone manufacturing, operation, training, search and development. The statement said, “CDA will have the power to impose fines, cancel licenses and prosecute.”
The main role will be in drone technology
According to the statement, ‘Establishment in Pakistan will not only fill the empty space due to the absence of any law on drones, but will also play a major role in the country’s drone technology and construction’. The Prime Minister has said that the legal process for the establishment of CDA should be completed on a ‘priority basis’. It should be tabled in Parliament after approval in the Cabinet. Imran Khan was quoted as saying, “Effective use of drone technology will help improve resource utilization and service delivery.” This committee will be chaired by the Secretary of the Aviation Division.
