Ashfaq Sheikh said that a few days ago the Law and Justice Department had issued a proposal to amend the Notaries Act in the form of draft 2021, in which notaries are allowed to practice for the first 5 years and after 5-5 years, license renewal twice. It was decided to give a total tenure of 15 years.
Suggestions and objections were invited on this. Notaries had also organized a one-day work-off movement across the state including Nagpur city. Under the leadership of Maharashtra and Goa Notaries Association President Syed Sikandar, the delegation met Minister Rijiju and put forth their demands.

The delegation informed him that if the license is canceled in 15 years, the notaries will become unemployed at the age of 35-40 years. Everyday life will be disturbed. This would be injustice. After hearing all the talks of the delegation, the minister assured to cancel the amendment proposal.
Demands were also made to give notaries a government identity card on the lines of a government official, rebate in toll tax, increase commission and make notary renewal online.
