According to sources in the water supply department, the water shortage in rural areas is likely to be less this summer as 10 out of 36 small projects in the district have more than 50 percent water storage capacity. Many projects have 20 to 50 percent water reserves, which has provided drinking water for agriculture as well as drinking water for livestock. According to sources, sufficient water will be available for rural water supply schemes in the district this year.
There are two big, three medium and 36 small projects in Akola district. These projects quench the thirst of various villages and irrigate thousands of hectares of land. When the summer season starts, the discussion on the storage capacity of the project starts. But last year till the end of November there was good rain.
Due to which there has been abundant water storage in the projects of the district. Most of the 36 small projects had overflowed at that time. Therefore, despite the increase in temperature this year, the project still has abundant water reserves. Due to availability of 20 to 50 percent water storage in many projects, the fields have been brought under irrigation in the areas where there are small projects.

These irrigation areas include Kumbhari in Akola tehsil, Savargaon dam of Patur tehsil, Patur, Jharandi, Hivra, Tamsi in Balapur tehsil, Dagparwa in Barshitakali tehsil, Shahapur Brihat in Akot tehsil, Popatkhed Tappa-2 and Y this small project of Murtijapur tehsil. There are more than 50 percent water storage available in the state. Meanwhile, various measures are being proposed to overcome water scarcity in the rural areas of the district. In this, acquisition of wells at 142 places, special repair of 6 tap schemes, temporary tap scheme at 5 places, 14 new borewells and 21 hand pumps are proposed.
