Two leaders of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at the Center and Bihar on Friday brushed off speculations about Nitish Kumar’s plans to move to the Rajya Sabha after resigning as chief ministers. Janata Dal (United) leader and Bihar’s Water Resources Minister Sanjay Kumar Jha has termed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to go to Rajya Sabha as “rumour” and “mischievous act”, saying it is far from the truth.
Sanjay Kumar Jha, considered a confidante of the Chief Minister, tweeted that I am shocked by the rumor that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is considering going to Rajya Sabha, this is mischief and far from the truth. He said Kumar has the mandate to serve Bihar, and will continue to serve for his entire tenure as chief minister. He’s not going anywhere.
Sanjay Jha said that Nitish Kumar was the face of NDA in the 2020 Bihar assembly elections and people voted to keep this alliance in power. He said that his (Nitish’s) unwavering commitment to serve the people and ability to transform Bihar is sacred. I urge everyone to stay away from this kind of propaganda, it will be of no use.
Shri Nitish Kumar was the face of the NDA in 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, and people voted this alliance to power. His unwavering commitment to serve people & ability to transform #Bihar are sacrosanct. I urge all to desist from such propaganda, which shall yield little. 2/2

Apart from Sanjay Jha, Deputy CM in the Nitish government and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Tarkishore Prasad said that the Chief Minister has played an important role in transforming Bihar. He said it was unfair to suggest Kumar to resign. Prasad said it was just speculation.
What is the whole matter?
In fact, during an informal conversation with some journalists, Nitish Kumar had allegedly remarked about his unfulfilled desire in the context of Rajya Sabha. Journalists had asked him about his recent visit to his old parliamentary constituency.
Journalists jokingly asked whether Nitish plans to contest the parliamentary elections again. To this Nitish Kumar said that he has been a member of both the houses and Lok Sabha in the state legislature and his political journey will be completed with one term in the Rajya Sabha. Kumar made the remarks during an informal interaction with reporters.
Speculation intensifies to be made Vice President
This remark of Nitish Kumar is raising speculation that he may be made the Vice President. There were reports being carried by a section of the media that the JD(U) leader may go to Delhi for a top constitutional post. Nitish Kumar has been in power in Bihar since 2005 and has been the chief minister for the longest time.
The report also claimed that he may agree to a new ‘power transfer’ formula in the state, where the BJP may be allowed to have its own chief minister. BJP has won more seats than JD(U) in the 2020 assembly elections.
Asked about speculations that Nitish Kumar might emerge as the BJP’s choice for the vice-president’s post after the end of Venkaiah Naidu’s term, former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi on Thursday said, “Accha hi rahega na”.
