Wardha. For the last many years, a convenient vegetable market could not be built, it has been the misfortune of the city, despite continuous efforts, the vegetable market is being neglected due to the failure of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee administration. As a result, due to lack of facilities, farmers, arhatiyas, citizens are upset. At present, 266 arhatiyas are working in the vegetable market at Bajaj Chowk. Still, there is no facility of any kind in the vegetable market located at Bajaj Chowk.
After the corona epidemic knocked, it was not possible to follow the rules like social distancing in the market, due to which the market committee administration provided the vegetable brokers instead of the market yard, since then the vegetable market fills there but due to this the grain traders have trouble in keeping the goods. At the same time, citizens do not have the convenience to buy vegetables by going to the market committee, due to which there is a dire need of a convenient vegetable market in the city.
2017 offer rejected
The vegetable market at Bajaj Chowk, run by the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, has three and a half acres of space. This place has been taken on lease from the government. The market committee prepared a proposal in 2017 to prepare a well-equipped vegetable market, construction work was to be done under the city council, but according to the development plan. According to the rules, there was a condition to give 40 percent land of the vegetable market to the NAP administration, the proposal of 2017 was rejected as the condition of the place became a hindrance for approval.
Market committee will do construction work
In order to remove the space constraint, permission was sought from the Ministry of Urban Development on behalf of the market committee administration for the construction of a well-equipped market, due to which recognition will now be done by the market committee administration itself. But for this one will have to wait till the completion of the election process from the new market committee.
Many vegetable brokers willing
There is a large number of people willing to become an arhtiya in the vegetable market, but due to the location, the market committee administration has stopped giving recognition to the new arhtiyas since 2015. SEZ is collected from the said vegetable brokers throughout the year. But due to non-availability of facilities, this SEZ is nominal, recently the APMC administration completed the lease process of the place from 2021 to 2026, for which 10 lakh 52 thousand rupees were paid to the government.
