CM Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya are going to contest the assembly elections themselves. Amidst all this, there are reports that SP President Akhilesh Yadav himself can contest the UP Assembly elections.
Speculation of landing from Azamgarh-Etawa or Mainpuri seat
It is to be known that SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav is presently MP from Azamgarh. In such a situation, if Akhilesh contests the assembly elections, then he will have to give up the membership of the Lok Sabha. However, it is believed that Akhilesh can contest from any seat in Azamgarh-Gopalpur or Mainpuri. SP people from many districts are appealing to Akhilesh to contest elections. Nafees Ahmed is the MLA from Gopalpur seat of Azamgarh district. He is one of Akhilesh’s close friends. Samajwadi Party is winning this seat for four consecutive times. BJP had won 325 seats in the year 2017
