Karen National Union Captured Myanmar Military Base: The ethnic Karen guerrillas have annexed a military base while retaliating against the military government that massacred the people of Myanmar. Karen National Union has said that they have captured an army base on Tuesday. It is believed that this news will encourage those who are opposing the military’s overthrow of the civilian government by the army in February.
A spokesperson of the Karen National Union (KNU), the main political group of minorities seeking greater autonomy from Myanmar’s central government, said the group’s armed unit attacked and burned the military base at five in the morning (Myanmar Armed Forces) . In a message, KNO chief of foreign affairs Padoh Sav Taw Ni said that there is no information about the casualties in the incident yet.
Army did not comment
Myanmar Military Government has not yet made any comment in this regard. The KNU controls a portion in eastern Myanmar near the border with Thailand.
