Mumbai : Mumbai, which is the topper in the vaccination of adults, is lagging behind in the vaccination of adolescents. According to the data received from the Health Department, Mumbai is at the 29th position in the list of 35 districts. At present, only a 49 percent teenagers in Mumbai have taken the first dose of the vaccine.
The vaccination of adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years, which began on January 3 in Mumbai, has not received as much response as it should have. The total number of adolescents in the city is 61 lakh 2 thousand 461, out of which only 30 lakh 1 thousand 414 adolescents have taken the first dose of the vaccine. That is, only 49.21 percent of adolescents have taken the first dose of the vaccine. On an average 56.47 percent of adolescents across the state have taken the vaccine, but Mumbai is lagging even behind the state’s average immunization figures.

Dr. Bakul Parekh, a member of the Pediatric COVID Task Force, said that due to the rumors circulating on social media, parents are afraid to give the vaccine to their children. There is also a reason people feel that COVID is going, then why take the vaccine. This age is also such where teenagers live, but my only appeal would be to parents to send their children to get the vaccine.
23rd place in taking double dose
Mumbai’s Kishore is also 23rd in taking double doses. Only 61304 teenagers in the city have taken double doses of the vaccine. The average figure for double doses in the state is 13.38 per cent, while in Mumbai only 10.1 per cent of adolescents have taken the second dose of the vaccine.
These districts are on top
In terms of vaccination of adolescents, Bhandara tops the list with 78.68 per cent of adolescents. After that 72.30 percent in Sangli, 71.44 percent in Kolahpur adolescents have been vaccinated. In Palghar, 69.12 per cent and in Thane 55.53 per cent adolescents have taken the first dose of the vaccine.
the number of vaccinations will increase
Adolescent immunization in Mumbai got off to a slow start, as earlier centers were too few and schools and colleges were closed. The speed of vaccination has increased as compared to earlier. The number is expected to increase in the coming days.

State Vaccination Status
Till February 13, out of 60 lakh 63 thousand adolescents in the state, 34 lakh 23 thousand 696 have taken the first dose of the vaccine, while 8 lakh 11 thousand 474 have taken the second dose of the vaccine.
The double dose figure has stopped
In Mumbai, 95.65 percent of people above the age of 18 have double doses, but now this figure has increased repeatedly for the last several days. According to the officials of the Health Department, there are some percentage of people who have decided that they do not have to take the vaccine.
Teenagers should take the vaccine if the virus is to be stopped
Mumbai’s 15 to 18 age group has also been infected in the third wave, so now they can take the vaccine only after 3 months as per the rules. Second, there is also hesitation among parents and adolescents about not taking the vaccine. My advice to parents and teens would be to get the vaccine. Because schools have opened, if a child is infected, then he can infect the elders of the house. Along with such children, the elders of the house are also at risk. They should be persuaded to take the vaccine, not by force, but by explaining them.
