Thane : The work of Digha Railway Station under Airoli-Kalwa Elevated Project has now reached the final stage. Due to which the possibility of speeding up this proposed elevated project has increased.
It is worth mentioning that recently, Thane MP Rajan Vichare along with officials of MRVC, MIDC and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation inspected Airoli Kalva elevated railway project at Digha in Navi Mumbai. At that time MP Rajan Vichare was accompanied by MRVC Managing Director Ravi Agarwal, Chief Project Manager Bhavesh Kumar Jha, Deputy Engineer Chaudhary, MIDC Engineer Rajaram Rathod, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Engineer Sanjay Patil Vidyut Vitran Nigam Engineer Borse and District Chief Dwarkanath Bhoir, Opposition Leader of the party Vijay Chougule, Deputy District Chief Manoj Haldankar, Corporators MK Madhvi, Naveen Gawte, Jagdish Gawte, Chetan Naik, Ram Ashish Yadav, Rajesh Gawte, Bahadur Bisht and other office-bearers of Shiv Sena were present.

MP Vichare said that Airoli Kalwa Elevated is an ambitious project connecting Central Railway and Harbor Railway. He got Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu approved Rs 428 crore for Airoli Kalwa elevated project in MUTP 3 in the first budget of the Ministry of Railways after being elected MP in 2014. While the foundation stone laying ceremony of the project was done in December 2016 by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. But the work got delayed due to lack of space. MP Rajan Vichare demanded from the railway administration that this ambitious project should be carried out in two phases so that it is not canceled.
Digha railway station will be equipped with these facilities
MP Vichare said that the work on the first phase of Digha railway station is starting at a brisk pace. And till now 60 percent of the work has been completed. The entire platform at Digha station will be 270 meters long and 12 meters wide. Two lifts and four escalators as well as four pedestrian underpasses are being developed for the convenience of the commuters. 110 crore will be spent on this station. Also, two G+2 buildings have been built on either side of the station for ticket windows. It will have booking offices, 4-4 ticket windows. MRVC has assured to complete the station work by the end of December 2022.
