transformer leaked
The concerned office staff of Mahavitaran told that the transformer had leaked near New Hindu High School. When citizens saw smoke rising from the transformer, they informed the electricity department. The official said that the rectification work was done and the AB switch was also changed. After that the power was restored. The repair work took 4 hours. Till then the citizens continued to suffer. At present, the temperature in the city is running around 40 degrees and cases of transformer failure are coming to the fore. Citizens say that if regular maintenance had taken place then this problem would not have happened.
Transformer not changed for 15-20 years
Citizens told that no new transformer has been installed in this entire area for 15-20 years. Only so many years old transformers are being run whose capacity is not able to bear the load of increasing demand for electricity. Mahavitaran has been claiming to have spent crores of rupees to strengthen the infrastructure, but the situation in this main market area is dire. There is a need to replace the old transformers installed but attention is not being given.
In this context, the concerned official said that there is no space to install a new transformer in the above area. Being a market area, the demand for electricity in these areas is high both during the day and at night. This uninterrupted power supply will be ensured by the installation of new transformers. Traders and citizens have also demanded to increase the capacity of old transformers, replace them and install 2-3 new transformers.
