Dombivli : Roads in Dombivli Industrial Area were not repaired in time due to lack of coordination between various administrations, which worsened the condition. To overcome these technical problems, Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde was constantly trying. Ultimately their efforts were successful and MIDC and Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation have ordered 50-50 percent participation in the reconstruction of roads in the industrial area.
The MIDC administration has now announced tenders for industrial area roads worth Rs 45.30 crore for concrete roads. This has paved the way for the concreting of roads in the industrial area and work on these roads will start in the next few days, said Shrikant Shinde.

MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde has geared up for concretization of roads in Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency. Due to his continuous efforts, the road construction work has been completed expeditiously in Mumbra, Diva, Kalwa, Dombivali, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar and Ambernath. Many road construction works are going on in full swing and some road works are in the final stages of tendering. Roads to industrial estates in a city like Dombivali have deteriorated over the years, as well as road construction in urban settlements, Dombivli’s industrial and urban areas are connected by various roads. The roads in this industrial area, which came under the Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation area, often passed through the boundaries of neighboring village panchayats and municipalities.
Roads stuck in legal trouble had deteriorated over the years
Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation and neighboring village panchayats were responsible for these roads. Therefore, the question of who would build, repair or rebuild these roads was in the middle. The roads mired in legal trouble had deteriorated over the years. Kalyan Lok Sabha constituency MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde was trying. Dr. Shinde interacted and coordinated with MMRDA, MIDC, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Dr. Shrikant Shinde clearly played a role in this discussion. The suffering that the citizens are facing must be relieved immediately, Dr. Shinde said. For this, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde had several meetings with Industries Minister Subhash Desai through Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde to fulfill the demand.
State Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who visited Dombivli during the same period, inspected the roads and directed Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation and Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation to spend 50-50 per cent. Accordingly, MIDC had approved a proposal of approximately Rs 110 crore for the construction of this road at an estimated cost (DPR). In a meeting held at the MIDC office at the World Trade Center on January 24, 2020, it was decided that there would be 50-50 percent partnership between the Municipal Corporation and MIDC on 14 km of roads in the residential area. The Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Corporation had approved the proposal to transfer 50 per cent of its share i.e. Rs 55.15 crore to MIDC. After the matter came to the notice of the corporation not having sufficient funds, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde himself had contacted Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde to provide the amount to the Municipal Corporation at his level. Accordingly financial assistance of Rs.57.37 crore was announced as grant under the Expanded Civic Infrastructure Project of MMRDA.
Road construction work will be started soon
After the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation announced the tender for its part of the work, the MIDC administration was also going to announce the tender. In this regard, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde himself had met and demanded the Chief Executive Officer of MIDC, P. Anbalagan. In response, the MIDC administration has announced tenders for works worth Rs 45.30 crore for industrial area roads in Dombivali. This has paved the way for the concreting of roads in the industrial area of Dombivali. MP Dr. said that road construction work would be started soon after giving work order.
Efforts are being made at various levels since last five years
In 1987 the roads of Dombivli Industrial Area were transferred by MIDC to Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation. Since then these roads are being repaired by the Municipal Corporation. However, after the 27 villages covering these roads were taken out of municipal limits in 2002, the gram panchayat was expected to maintain and repair these roads. but that did not happen. There were repeated meetings in this regard, then in 2015, with the inclusion of the MIDC department in the Municipal Corporation, these roads again came under the control of the Municipal Corporation. Therefore, there was a dispute between the two administrations whether the work of this road should be done by MIDC or the Municipal Corporation, MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde said that efforts are being made at various levels for the last five years to make these roads.
