Mumbai: The wait for the start of Mumbai’s second metro line-7 and 2A (Metro-2A and 7) is going to end soon. The Research, Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) has issued a provisional certificate for the operation of the first phase of the Metro. It was told that in February, passenger operations will start from Aarey to Dahisar East and then Dahisar to Dhanukarwadi on the 20 km route of the first phase.
According to Metropolitan Commissioner SVR Srinivas, the final approval from the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CRMS) is required after the approval of the RDSO. Its process is started. This approval is mandatory before the metro network starts commercial operation.

18 stations will be covered
According to officials, 18 stations will be covered in the first phase. About 96 percent of the civil work has been completed. The work of the stations is in the final stage. It was earlier targeted to be opened to the general public in October 2021. During this work was affected due to Corona, after that preparations were made to start in December 2021. Now it is expected to operate from the month of February.
operating with 11 rakes
MMRDA will start commercial operations on both the corridors with 11 rakes of Metro, of which two have already arrived. Metro 2A is 17.5 km long, while Metro 7 has a length of 18.6 km. The first phase of 20 km is between Dahanukarwadi of Line-2A to Aarey of Line-7. With the commissioning of these two metro lines, vehicular traffic on the Western Express Highway is expected to reduce by 25%.
