ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022: The schedule of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 was announced on Friday. The Men in Blue will take the field against Pakistan in their first match of the tournament on 23 October at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 is to be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13 and will be played at seven venues in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Geelong, Hobart and Perth.
A total of 45 matches will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. In the first round, 2014 champions Sri Lanka and Namibia will play the opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at Kardinia Park in Geelong on Sunday, 16 October.
Teams for Super 12 are divided into two groups. England, New Zealand, Australia and Afghanistan are currently in Group A. On the other hand, India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh are in Group B.
Apart from these 8 teams, 4 more teams will reach the Super-12 round after the result of the first round. The matches in the Super-12 round will end on November 6. All India matches will be played in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth and Adelaide. Indian team will not play any match in Brisbane till Super 12.
Indian team schedule
India will play their second match of Group II of the Super-12 in Sydney on October 27 from the Qualifiers (Group A runners-up). They will then take on South Africa in Perth on October 30 and Bangladesh at the Adelaide Oval on November 2. The Indian team will play its last match of Super-12 on November 6 at the MCG against the winner of Group B.
The second round of the tournament, the Super-12, will begin on October 22 with a match between defending champions and hosts Australia and last time runners-up New Zealand. This match will be played in Sydney.
In the Super-12, Australia are placed in Group A with world number one England, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Group A winners and Group B runners-up.
The semi-finals will be played on November 9 and 10 at the Sydney and Adelaide Ovals respectively. This will be the first time that the Adelaide Oval will host the World Cup semi-finals. The final will be played on November 13 at the MCG.
The opening match of the first round will be played between 2014 champions Sri Lanka and Namibia at Cardinia Park Jilang on 16 October. Two other teams from Group A will qualify.
Two-time champions West Indies will also play in the first round. They are placed in Group B along with Scotland and two qualifiers. The matches of this group will be held in Hobart. The top two teams from all the groups will qualify for the Super-12.
