Mathura. In Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh (Uttar Pradesh), a woman who set herself on fire on the occasion of solution day in Raya police station on Saturday, died during treatment in Agra on Sunday. The woman’s husband has filed a case against four people including the village head’s father. Giani Devi, wife of Satish Kumar, resident of Gaira village of Thana Raya area of the district, had filed a case of molestation against some people of the village on July 11, 2017.
He alleged that the police did not take any coercive action on the complaint and he was being pressured to settle the matter. According to the statement of the victim’s husband, the accused of the incident and more than four dozen of their supporters had threatened his wife to withdraw the case by doing a panchayat in the village a few days ago.
Satish said that his wife did not accept this. He told that then one of them Harichand had threatened to file fresh cases against him. Satish claimed that due to this reason, under pressure, Giani set himself on fire two days ago by pouring inflammable material and reached the proceedings of the resolution day. The woman’s husband told that she was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment. He died during treatment in Agra.
In this case, Pradhan’s father Suresh, Virendra, Rinku and Harichand had threatened to look into the case if the case was not withdrawn. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sreesh Chandra, who is probing the case, said that after registering a case against the villagers who were pressurizing them to withdraw the case, the accused father of the village head Suresh has been arrested and the police for the arrest of the remaining three others. Three teams are raiding their bases.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Gaurav Grover said, “Every case registered by the woman and her husband is being investigated. Efforts are on to arrest all the accused. One of them has been arrested and interrogation of some others is also on.
