Mumbai: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Praveen Darekar has suffered a major setback in the election of the President of Mumbai District Central Co-operative Bank. Shiv Sena-NCP’s Aghadi has occupied the post of president of this bank. NCP and Shiv Sena joint candidate Siddharth Kamble has won the post of bank’s president.
At the same time, BJP MLA Prasad Lad has to face defeat by two votes. BJP’s Vitthal Bhosale has been appointed as the vice-president. For the past several years, Praveen Darekar had kept his hold on the post of the chairman of this bank. However, recently when it was revealed that Darekar had applied for the election of the Board of Directors as a laborer, he had to resign after this controversy.
Mind in front of Ajit Pawar and Aaditya Thackeray’s strategy
Just before this election, on the instructions of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray, a joint meeting of Shiv Sena and NCP representatives from Mumbai Bank was held at Sahyadri Guest House. Shiv Sena secretary Milind Narvekar was also present in the meeting. The Shiv Sena and NCP alliance has been approved in the meeting. After that both the parties announced to field Siddharth Kamble for President and Abhishek Ghoshalkar for Vice President to end BJP’s dominance over Mumbai Bank. Praveen Darekar was completely blown away by this master stroke of Ajit Pawar and Aaditya Thackeray.
BJP MLA Prasad Lad lost by two votes
According to sources, seeing his defeat, Darekar withdrew himself from the election for the post of Speaker and decided to field BJP MLA Prasad Lad at the last minute for the post of Speaker. However, in this election, Lad had to face defeat by 2 votes.

Mahavikas Aghadi has played a game in this election because I am the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council. In such a situation, before the election, all the parties came together and fought this election for cooperation. However, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and the Chief Minister put pressure on the voters by focusing on the caste system. Voters were broken with the use of government machinery.
