Iran mother Maryam Karimi hanger by her daughter: eye for eye! Mahatma Gandhi used to say, ‘The whole world will be blinded with eye for eye’. But this is not the case in Iran. Even today, he accepts the rule of ‘blood’s revenge blood’. Therefore, such news often comes from this country, which after reading, they are forced to think a lot. In Iran, a woman is accused of killing her tyrannical husband. Instead of receiving mercy or sympathy from the court, he got the death penalty. That too in the hands of her real daughter.
Maryam Karimi was hanged in Rasht Central Jail in northern Iran by her own daughter. The law did not have mercy, the daughter also turned out to be ‘stone-pelted’. He did not forgive his mother for the father’s murder. Nor did blood money also be accepted. In Iran it is called ‘Diya’. He decided to hang his own mother with his own hands.
False accusation
However, it is being said that Maryam Karimi did not kill her husband, but her father Ibrahim did this. It is being told that Ibrahim wanted his daughter to get divorced. But her husband was not ready for this. On the contrary, he started fighting more with Maryam. However, it is not yet clear why Ibrahim did not get punishment in this case. But on 13 March, he was forced to see his daughter swinging on the gallows.
Law of eyes instead of eyes
Maryam has been sentenced to death on charges of murder under Iranian law. In Iran, there is a law called ‘Kissas’, which means the rule of the eye instead of the eye. Iran has the same law for all premeditated murders. There is no difference between ruthless murder and simple murder. Because of this it becomes easy to hang morally. Under this law, a relative of the aggrieved party is present at the time of hanging and he plays a role in hanging.
Even 15-year-olds were hanged
Under the law in Iran, even boys and girls up to 15 years of age are sentenced to death. In the year 2019, children were hanged in at least four cases. In the same year, 221 people were sentenced to be hanged. Since the hanging of Maryam, human rights organizations have started raising voice after this decision.
The daughter has the right to avenge the father’s murder
According to Iran’s Director of Human Rights Mahmoud Emiri Moghadam, the law here is that a daughter has the right to avenge the murder of her father. He said that this law is very inhumane.
