Punjab Election 2022: Amarinder Singh releases first list of 22 candidates, Captain will contest from Patiala
During the program Deputy Chief Minister Joykumar Singh said that the first list of NPP candidates for the elections will be declared by Monday evening after the meeting of the election committee of the party.
He said that the list of candidates can be announced in two or three different phases. The NPP is likely to field candidates for at least 40 assembly constituencies, including six from the hill constituencies.
Singh said the NPP was confident that no party would get an absolute majority and his party would comfortably get around 20 seats.
“As of now, the NPP has no plans to forge a post-poll alliance with other parties. However, the final decision will be taken only after the declaration of the election results,” he said.
The NPP is one of the key allies of the BJP-led Manipur government after the Naga People’s Front (NPF), both of which had four MLAs initially supporting the government. However, the NPP is left with only three MLAs after one of its MLAs resigned from the party to join the BJP as a minister.
NPP is the first party to release the election manifesto in the state, where polling is to be held in two phases on February 27 and March 3.
