Ahmedabad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that the central government’s schemes like ‘Make in India’, ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’ were run by Mahatma Gandhi. There are new definitions of ‘Swadeshi’ movement. He said that the ideas put forward by Mahatma Gandhi for building a new India were forgotten for many years after attaining independence, but Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave them a new life.
Shah was here to unveil the mural of Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary. Gandhi’s death anniversary is celebrated as Martyrs’ Day. A fresco by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KYIC) adorns a wall on the banks of the Sabarmati River. It has been made by artists brought from different parts of the country on an aluminum plate of 100 sqm with the help of 2,975 pottery. These artists were trained here. Shah said, “Mahatma Gandhi did not just fight for the independence of the country, but he also tried to rebuild the country after independence through Swadeshi, Satyagraha, Swabhasha, Sadhana Shuddhi, Aparigraha, Prayer, Fasting and Simplicity. were suggested. ,
He said that Mahatma Gandhi inculcated these ideas in the consciousness of citizens during the struggle with the British, so that the basis for the reconstruction of the country after attaining independence. “Unfortunately, for many years, tributes were paid to Bapu’s photo and he was mentioned in speeches, but the use of Khadi, handloom, Swabhasha and Swadeshi was forgotten. After becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi gave a new life to these thoughts of Bapu.
“The new schemes of the Center like Make in India, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Vocal for Local are new definitions of Swadeshi,” he said. He said, “India’s economic uplift through self-reliance, the concept of making it a global manufacturing hub and appealing to 130 crore Indians to use indigenous products – these three ideas have arisen from Bapu’s Swadeshi (movement).” Shah said that Modi’s endeavor to renew the use of Khadi has helped KVIC achieve a turnover of Rs 95,000 crore. He also appealed to the people of Gujarat to use Khadi cloth.
The senior BJP leader said, “Khadi is not only a way to empower the poor, but it is also an example of India’s self-respect.” He said that the ideas put forth by Gandhi behind the use of Khadi are relevant even today. Shah said that the emphasis has been laid on ‘Swabhasha’ in the new education policy. He said that the new education policy will give due importance to Indian languages because if India is cut off from its languages, it will be separated from its culture, history, literature and grammar.
