Aurangabad: Mahavitaran’s Decentralized Solar Agro-Energy Project is in full swing. Due to the increasing response to the project, the dream of farmers to supply electricity during the day for irrigation has started coming true. Till date 1440 MW capacity agreement has been signed under the Chief Minister’s Solar Krishi Vahini Yojna of the state government. At the same time, at present, 45 thousand 664 farmers have been supplied electricity during the day through 108 solar agricultural lines across the state.
In the Agriculture Pump Electricity Policy 2020 envisaged by Energy Minister Dr. Nitin Raut, special efforts are being made through Mahavitaran for setting up decentralized solar power projects under Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana for daily supply of electricity to agricultural pumps. Vijay Singhal, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahavitaran has given more emphasis on expediting solar power projects which has given impetus to this system as well. Under this scheme decentralized solar projects of 2 to 10 (2×5) MW capacity are being implemented within 5 km radius of agricultural overloaded substation and daily power supply is being provided to agriculture pumps through respective agricultural channels. Tenders are being issued continuously by Mahavitaran
Tenders are being floated continuously by Mahavitaran for setting up maximum decentralized solar power projects under this scheme. Earlier the tender process was started for 1300 MW. In this, the first Mahavitaran got a response of 111 MW. But to get more response, Vijay Singhal, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahavitaran made special efforts.
Power purchase agreements signed for 1440 MW capacity
Mahavitaran has entered into power purchase agreements for 1440 MW capacity in decentralized solar power projects set up at various locations across the state. Out of which 396 MW capacity projects have been implemented. It will soon add another 111 MW. Mahavitaran is in the process of issuing tenders for setting up maximum decentralized solar power projects for day to day power supply to the farmers. In the recent tendering process, responses for solar power projects of 385 MW capacity have been received. The next process of signing the agreement with this project is going on in full swing.
Rent will increase by 3% every year
Minimum 3 acres and maximum 50 acres of government and private barren and fallow land is being taken on lease within 5 km radius of 2725 sub-stations of Mahavitaran. The state government has given approval to take government land for 30 years on a nominal lease of Re. Rs 30,000 rent per acre is being paid for land owned by individual, group group of farmers, cooperative societies and village panchayats. Also, the rent will increase by three percent every year.
A total of 16,049 acres of land proposals have been received from the state through 1111 applications for solar project sites so far. The technical survey has shown that 4,008 acres of this land is technically suitable for setting up a solar power project.
