Bangladesh Government on PM Modi Two Day Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going on a two-day Bangladesh tour later this month. Meanwhile, some leftist and fundamentalist Islamic groups from there (PM Modi Bangladesh Visit) are against his visit, due to which security is being threatened. On this, there has been a statement from the Bangladesh Government. Bangladesh has ruled out any security threat during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two-day visit.
Bangladesh’s government has said that ‘some’ leftist and fundamentalist Islamic groups are against their visit but there is ‘no need to worry about it. PM Modi will visit Bangladesh on March 26- 27. He will attend the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the country’s independence and the birth anniversary of its founder ‘Bangabandhu’ Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This will be his first visit to a country after the outbreak of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
‘People are with the government’
Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momin told reporters on Saturday night, ‘We are proud to invite them (PM Modi) to Bangladesh. People are with us (the government). Momin said, ‘Only a few people can oppose this tour and let them do it. There is no need to be worried about this (of the demonstrations). He said, ‘Bangladesh is a democratic country where people have the right to express their views and the government (Bangladesh Government) is not worried about it.’
‘Number of protesters significantly reduced’
He said that the protesters are in ‘very small numbers’ and they are taking advantage of ‘expression of ideas’. Apart from Prime Minister Modi, the nation heads of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives will attend the ceremonies at different times. Momin said that the authorities have taken all possible steps to ensure the safety of foreign celebrities visiting the tour. Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s Minister of State for External Affairs, Shaharyar Alam, told groups associated with the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party “that they should not show double standards by opposing Modi as they tried to please him in the first term of his government”.
PM Modi will also visit the Hindu temple
PM Modi will also visit two Hindu temples in Shatkhira and Gopalganj districts, where the predominantly Hindu Matua community resides. Most of the people of this community are from West Bengal. Asked if PM Modi’s interaction with the Matua community is related to West Bengal elections, Alam said, “If his visit is related to any kind of politics, then it is an issue for Bangladesh Is not. He said, ‘We are happy that Modi will be visiting various places outside Dhaka. He is our guest and he wants to move out of Dhaka. This will increase our tourism sector. So it is a good thing for us.
