Nagpur. In view of the increasing corona cases in the city and district and the spread of Omicron variants, Guardian Minister Nitin Raut inspected AIIMS, Medical and Mayo Hospital on Wednesday. He directed to be equipped with oxygen beds, ICU rooms, separate wards for children, availability of oxygen as well as all supporting medical facilities to prevent the increasing number of patients of Omicron infection and possible third wave of corona. .
During this, District Magistrate Vimala R., Municipal Commissioner Radhakrishnan B., AIIMS Director Major General Dr. Vibha Dutta, Medical College Dean Dr. Sudhir Gupta, Mayo’s Dean Dr. Bhavna Sonawane, besides District Surgeon Dr. Paturkar were present. .
Raut inspected the number of COVID Ward, Oxygen Beds, COVID Testing Laboratory in AIIMS. He directed the AIIMS administration to take immediate action to fill the vacant posts of doctors in view of the increasing number of Omicron infection and corona infection. At present, out of the total 50 posts of doctors, 43 posts have been filled and 7 posts are vacant.
Separate COVID wards of 100 beds have been set up for Omicron patients and suspected COVID patients and 40 ICU beds, 25 ventilators, test laboratories and other facilities have been set up. A 160-bed ward for COVID patients is currently running and a separate ward with 340 oxygen beds has been made on the fourth floor.
For this, medical and nursing staff will be made available by the district administration. Dr. Dutta informed that apart from corona, separate facilities have also been set up in AIIMS for other patients. AIIMS is building 4 PSA plants with a capacity of 400 cylinders, which will provide oxygen to 458 jumbo cylinders weighing 30 kg. After this, the foster minister inaugurated the COVID Testing Laboratory of the Medical College. After inspecting the medical college and oxygen plant in Mayo, he inquired about the availability and capacity of oxygen from the medical authorities.
