Hubballi/Karnataka: The Karnataka government will bring a new law which aims to free Hindu temples from the rules and regulations they are currently governing. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said this here on Wednesday. The Chief Minister said that the government would constitute a special task force to implement the Anti-Conversion Bill once it becomes a law.
Bommai said, “Senior people have told us about things… the places of worship of people from other communities are protected by various laws and they are free to follow them. But our Hindu temples have various controls and they are bound by government rules and regulations. There is such a system that permission has to be taken from the higher authorities to spend the revenue of the temple for its development only.

“It is the wish of our senior man that Hindu temples should be freed from such controls and laws,” he said while addressing the state BJP executive here. He said, “I want to tell this executive that the government will bring a law in this regard before the budget session. We will free our temples from such laws and conditions. Nothing will happen except regulation. We will ensure that they are managed independently.”
During the recently held assembly session in Belagavi, the Bommai government had passed the “Karnataka Religious Freedom Rights Protection Bill, 20211” which is popularly known as the “Anti-Conversion Bill”. After this, this is considered to be the second big step of the state government. (agency)
