Ola Electric: Ola Electric is probably once again battling with the delay in the delivery of its scooters. This time the delay is related to the production of S1, which is a wallet-friendly alternative to its fully loaded scooter S1 Pro. The brand is yet to clarify the reason for discontinuing production of the scooter, but its recent move has raised doubts about the future of the S1.
We’re upgrading all our S1 customers to S1 Pro hardware. You’ll get all S1 features and can unlock Pro range, hyper mode, other features with a performance upgrade. Thank you for being early supporters of Mission Electric! Dispatch in Jan, Feb. Email to follow with details.

Bhavish Aggarwal tweeted
A recent tweet by Bhavish Agarwal, CEO, Ola Electric, confirms the brand’s past communication, albeit in a secret manner. All customers who booked the S1 on September 15 and 16 are now being “automatically upgraded” to the S1 Pro hardware.
Optional upgrade
The tweet doesn’t mention that the hardware is deadweight (4kg extra) without the required software, which costs an additional Rs 30,000 and makes the cost almost at par with the S1 Pro. Ola has clarified that the software upgrade is optional and customers can choose to activate the payment amount later, if they wish.

timeline not fixed
The company also said that it is postponing the production of the S1 till an indefinite date this year. Ola claims that this is being done in order to prioritize the production of the S1 Pro by the brand due to the large number of customer requests for the S1 Pro.
However, it failed to clarify that the company has so far failed to deliver even a single S1 scooter to the customer’s doorstep.
no free software updates
Agarwal’s recent tweet once again does not disprove the fact that these software upgrades are not available for free. When contacted, an Ola spokesperson said that the S1 Pro with the benefit of an improved range of 105 km is still in profit, which is less than the software-activated S1 Pro’s real world range of 135 km, but more than the S1. Is more.
The problem is that not a single production version of the S1 has been made public, nor has any customer been provided a test ride.
E is gone. Therefore, it cannot be checked.
Final payment window extended
For those looking to buy a lighter and cheaper S1 without the option of upgrading features, you’ll have to wait for the S1 to start production. If it starts.
For those who have accepted a hardware-only upgrade offer, the brand has extended the final payment window (for those who did not do so in November) to January 21, 2022. However, when the first batch of customers will be able to book their scooter is yet to be decided.
