The French government has condemned an open letter signed by active soldiers. In this letter, it is said that the country is moving towards ‘civil war’ due to Religious Extremism. About 1000 servicemen and women have given their names in the letter, including 20 retired generals. In this letter, the fundamentalists have been blamed for drawing the divide between the religious communities in the country. It has been said that Islamic fundamentalism is occupying the entire country.
The ministers of the country have condemned this letter printed in a right-wing magazine. The letter was first printed on April 21, on the completion of 60 years of the failed coup in France. Those who signed the letter said that this is a time of concern, France is trapped between the risks. The right-wing leader Marine Le Pen has supported the former generals. Le Pen is also a candidate for the presidential elections to be held in France next year.
Defense Minister warns soldiers to take action
At the same time, French Defense Minister Florence Parly said that there are two immutable principles in relation to politics, which guide the members of the army: neutrality and loyalty. He had earlier warned that every signatory still serving in the army would be acted upon if it violated a law that said soldiers should remain politically neutral.
What is said in this letter?
In the letter, French President Emmanuel Mankron, his government and MPs have been warned of many deadly threats. It says that Ismailism and the settlement of immigrants around the cities of France can prove to be a threat to the country. The signatories have blamed ‘a particular race’ for dividing communities in France. It has been said that these people want to wage ‘racial war’ by attacking statues and other aspects of French history.
The signatories have asked the government to use the police to suppress protests in recent years, saying that the government is making it a scapegoat. It is said in the letter that there should be no delay in taking action now, or else tomorrow’s civil war can increase this rising upsurge and deaths. It will be the responsibility of the government, because thousands of people will be killed when this happens.
