- No mobile internet facility in 829 villages
Nagpur. The High Court itself had taken cognizance of the tragedy of poor education and nutritional food for school-going children in many remote areas of the state. During the hearing on the petition on Wednesday, in the affidavit filed by the Central Government, it was told that mobile internet facility is still not available in 829 villages of Gadchiroli district.
This picture of Gadchiroli district is quite disturbing. From this it can be estimated that how the future of the next generation coming from Gadchiroli is going to live in the state. The court said in the order that on the one hand the physical classes were closed. On the other hand there is no internet facility. In the absence of internet, children are not able to participate in digital classes. The court ordered the Tribal Development Department to give an explanation for all the problems. As a court friend Firdous Mirza argued.
neither good buildings nor enough teachers
The court was of the view that the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act 2009 was made. Even in the National Food Security Act 2013, a rule has been prepared to provide nutritious food to school going children. The lockdown was imposed from 21 March 2020 due to the outbreak of the pandemic in the country. Since then online education has started. The compulsory education for children from 6 years to 14 years has been implemented, but sufficient resources are not available for this. Especially in remote areas of Maharashtra there are neither solid school buildings nor adequate teachers are available to teach in schools. Teaching equipments were not even made available to teach the children. Apart from this, many areas do not even have good roads. Due to which children cannot go to school during the rain.
No electricity, no internet, how will education be done?
The court said in the order that due to the pandemic, online education has been an option. But for this it is necessary to have 24×7 internet and electricity system.
Due to lack of infrastructure, many schools are deprived of electricity and internet facilities. Due to which it is not possible to provide continuous education to the children. It was told in the petition that due to all the shortcomings, it should have been taken seriously by the Central Government, the State Government and the local responsible agency. But till now it has not been taken seriously.
After the issue of notice in this regard, the affidavit was filed only on behalf of the Gadchiroli District Magistrate. Whereas no reply has been given by the other respondents. So what is being done in terms of providing 24×7 electricity and internet service. With this information, orders were issued to file a reply.
