CNG-PNG Price Hike: There is bad news on the inflation front. CNG prices increased by 80 paise per kg in Delhi-NCR from Friday. At the same time, the price of LPG (PNG), which is supplied to homes through pipes, has been increased by Rs 5 per cubic meter. On Friday, March 31, the government had decided to more than double the price of natural gas produced in the country. After this, today there has been an increase in the price of CNG-PNG.
According to the information given on the website of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the price of CNG in the National Capital Region (NCT) has been increased from Rs 60.01 to Rs 60.81 per kg. IGL retails CNG and PNG in and around Delhi.
CNG became costlier by Rs 4 in a month
This is the sixth increase in CNG prices in the last one month and the overall price has increased by about Rs 4 per kg during this period. This increase is due to the boom in gas prices around the world. The company said that with effect from April 1, 2022, the price of domestic PNG has been increased by Rs 5 per standard cubic meter (SCM). After this, the price of PNG in Delhi will be Rs 41.61 per SCM (including VAT).

The price of domestic PNG has been increased by Rs 5.85 to Rs 41.71 per SCM in Ghaziabad and Noida. IGL procures natural gas from domestic fields and also procures imported LNG.
The government on Thursday raised the price of gas produced from local fields to US$6.10 per million British thermal units from US$2.9 per million. According to industry sources, this has increased the cost of IGK and necessitated a price hike.
The price of CNG in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad will be Rs 63.38 per kg while in Gurugram it will be available at Rs 69.17 per kg. The cost of CNG varies from city to city. The main reason for this is VAT (Value Added Tax), which varies from state to state.
