A company that makes robotics and drones has claimed that it has operated the longest drone flight of 51 km in India to survey the pipeline of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in Haryana.
Akash Sinha, founder and CEO of Omnipresent Robot Technologies, told news agency PTI that the 51-km-long flight of the Omni-Hansa V5 drone took place on November 3.

He said that I believe that the last longest drone flight in India was 42 km. Sinha said that from take-off to landing, there was automatic operation of the drone. He said that we had a system of tracking on the drone. We could have tracked it on our 4G network with our tracker.
Sinha said HPCL wants to increase the range of the Omni Hansa V5 to 100-200 kms. The Omni Hansa V5 drone can take off and land like a helicopter, so it does not require a runway.
He said that once this drone is in the air, it flies like a plane. This drone is called Hybrid Fixed-Wing VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) Drone.
Sinha claimed that we successfully completed India’s longest drone flight. We flew the drone for 51 km for HPCL’s pipeline. He said the flight was to survey HPCL’s pipeline between Delhi and Haryana. This pipeline starts from Bahadurgarh in Haryana.
HPCL officials were also present during the flight demonstration. The flight went to a maximum altitude of 400 feet as per the rules of the aviation sector regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Sinha said OmniPresent has registered a growth of 100 per cent in the last one year and is expected to grow three to five times in the next 3-4 years.
He said the company aims to achieve the revenue target of Rs 1,000 crore in the next four years. Currently, the company is also working with the Indian e-commerce platform that wants to deploy drones for the supply of goods.
