New Delhi. After about 40 days in India, the number of daily cases of COVID-19 (Corona) remained less than 50,000 and the total number of people infected with the corona virus in the country increased to 4,26,31,421. Apart from this, the number of patients under treatment in the country fell to 5,37,045. The Union Health Ministry gave this information on Sunday.
According to the data updated by the ministry at 8 am, 44,877 new cases of infection were reported in India and the death toll rose to 5,08,665 after 684 more patients died. On January 4, 37,379 new cases of infection were reported in the country. The number of daily cases of infection in India remained less than one lakh for the seventh consecutive day.

Currently, 5,37,045 corona virus infections are being treated in the country, which is 1.26 percent of the total cases of infection. In the last 24 hours, there was a decrease in the number of patients under treatment for COVID-19 by 73,398. The national rate of recovery of patients in the country is 97.55 percent. According to the updated data, the daily rate of infection was recorded at 3.17 per cent and the weekly rate at 4.46 per cent. So far, a total of 4,15,85,711 people have become infection free in the country and the death rate from COVID-19 is 1.19 percent.
At the same time, more than 172.81 crore doses of anti-Covid-19 vaccines have been given so far under the nationwide vaccination campaign. It is noteworthy that on 7 August 2020, the number of infected in the country had exceeded 20 lakh, on 23 August 2020, 30 lakh and on 5 September 2020, more than 40 lakh. The total cases of infection crossed 50 lakh on 16 September 2020, 60 lakh on 28 September 2020, 70 lakh on 11 October 2020, 80 lakh on 29 October 2020 and 90 lakh on 20 November.
On 19 December 2020, these cases had crossed one crore in the country. Last year, on May 4, the number of infected had crossed 20 million and on June 23, 2021, crossed 30 million. On January 26 this year, the cases had crossed four crores. According to the data of the ministry, 684 cases of death due to infection were reported in the country in the last 24 hours.
Of these, 427 cases were reported in Kerala and 38 in Maharashtra. According to the data, a total of 5,08,665 people have died due to infection in the country so far, out of which 1,43,387 in Maharashtra, 62,053 in Kerala, 39,613 in Karnataka, 37,904 in Tamil Nadu, 26,060 in Delhi, 23,391 in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. 20,990 people have died in this. The Health Ministry said that out of those who have died due to corona virus infection so far, more than 70 percent of the patients also had other diseases. The ministry said on its website that its data is being matched with the data of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
