Chandigarh: Amarinder Singh-led Punjab Lok Congress (PLC) replaced the ruling party after the Congress declared Charanjit Singh Channi as the chief ministerial candidate for the assembly elections 2022. State unit chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has been taunted. It shared a picture using the hashtag ‘Curtain for Sidhu’ on its Twitter handle in which Rahul Gandhi, Sidhu, Channi and Sunil Jakhar held each other’s hands and raised them in the air. However, Sidhu’s face was accidentally covered for a few seconds because of the shawl.
Plc tweeted on Sunday: “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Making fun of Sidhu, the PLC said, “Thalko thok, wait… thump louder.” Sidhu often uses “Thokko clap” as his catchphrase during conversations. Ahead of the announcement of the Chief Minister’s face, Sidhu had said in a tweet, “Nothing big has been achieved without a decision… Heartfelt welcome to our foremost leader Rahul ji who came to give clarity to Punjab… Everyone will follow his decision!!!” To this the PLC replied, “You will not.”

Singh had formed his own party after the Congress had removed Singh from the chief minister’s post in September last year. The PLC is fighting the February 20 Punjab Assembly elections in alliance with the BJP and the Shiromani Akali Dal (United).
