Pune. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday described the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of Maharashtra as a “puncture wheeled rickshaw” whose wheels are going in three different directions and It is only causing pollution. Addressing a gathering of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Pune, Shah termed the Congress a ‘dealer’, the Shiv Sena a ‘broker’ and said the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was involved in “transfers”.
Earlier, the BJP had alleged that a senior intelligence officer in the state had busted a racket of transfers of senior police officers in August 2020. Shah alleged that the Shiv Sena compromised with Hindutva for power and betrayed the BJP. The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena broke away from the BJP after the 2019 assembly elections in Maharashtra and joined hands with the Sharad Pawar-led NCP and Congress to form the government.
Using the abbreviation ‘DBT’ of the Modi government’s Direct Benefit Transfer scheme, Shah said that in the MVA government, there is a ‘D’ dealer for Congress, ‘B’ broker for Shiv Sena and ‘T’ transfer for NCP. Shah sounded the poll bugle for municipal elections, including Mumbai, which are due next year. He appealed to the BJP workers to reach out to the voters and make them understand about the corruption and other irregularities of MVA.
Shah said, “Shiv Sena compromised with Hindutva for power. Two generations (of Shiv Sena) fought against one party (Congress) and now they are sharing power with the same party. Shiv Sena has betrayed the BJP just for the sake of power.”

He said the collapse of the MVA would start with the Pune Municipal Corporation elections. “Earlier I had made a statement that MVA is a three wheeler rickshaw with its wheels going in different directions. Now, let me modify that statement. MVA is a three wheeler rickshaw with its wheels going in three different directions. All three of these wheels are punctures. This rickshaw is polluting.”
He asked whether Maharashtra wants direct cash transfer or does it want ‘dealer-broker-transfer’? “Go to every house and take Prime Minister Modi’s message,” Shah said. He also challenged the MVA to contest against the BJP.
“Resign from the posts and contest the elections. Let’s fight elections and let those three parties stand together. Our BJP workers are ready. The people of Maharashtra are also ready to assess the work done so far (by the MVA).”
He also criticized the MVA for not reducing fuel prices. Shah said, “They talk about inflation. Prime Minister Modi reduced the prices but he (MVA) did not. I think there is some hearing loss in MVA. Modi ji reduced the fuel prices and appealed to the states to reduce the rates as well. BJP-led states cut fuel prices but MVA reduced liquor prices. The people of Maharashtra don’t want cheap liquor but fuel.”
He alleged that the MVA government has criminalized politics and the BJP is registering cases against workers and leaders. (agency)
