Ayodhya: Amid the controversy over girls wearing hijab in educational institutions in Karnataka, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) wing ‘Muslim Rashtriya Manch’ (MRM) has supported a girl wearing a burqa who was admitted to a college in Karnataka. Raising slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”, the youths tried to surround them. MRM says ‘Purda’ is part of Indian tradition.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, a burqa-clad student named Bibi Muskan Khan is seen protesting when youths wearing saffron scarves harass her. “She (Khan) is the daughter and sister of our community, we stand by her in this time of crisis,” Anil Singh, MRM’s provincial director (Awadh) told PTI.

In a statement, Singh said Hindu culture teaches to respect women. He said that those who “terrorize” the girl by chanting “Jai Shri Ram” were wrong. The statement said that the country’s constitution gives the girl the right to wear the hijab. It said that only if the girl violated the dress code of her educational institution, action should be taken against her.
Singh said that harassing the girl by a group of youths chanting “Jai Shri Ram” is unacceptable. He said that such activities are against Hindutva. “Our Sir Sanghchalak says that Muslims are our brothers and the DNA of both the communities is the same. Therefore, I appeal to all the people of the Hindu community to accept Muslims as their brothers and sisters.”
