Ranchi: The government will arrange state-of-the-art technical arrangements for 160 MLAs (MLAs) in the new building of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. MLAs will be present inside the house without papers. All the necessary papers from question and answer will be available to them electronically on their tables. All seats equipped with hi-tech arrangement will be equipped with state-of-the-art system under e-Vidhan. The building construction department of the government has got its responsibility. At present, only 81 elected MLAs will sit in them. It is not decided when the remaining 79 MLAs will come. Assembly seats will increase only then 160 MLAs will sit here. The old demand of political parties to increase seats is once again coming to an end. All the political parties of the state have unanimously demanded to increase the seats in the assembly. All parties are united on this issue.
The ruling JMM and Congress along with opposition parties BJP and AJSU are united to increase the seats of Jharkhand Assembly from 81 to 160. Everyone says that the seats must be increased by all means. In the last 21 years, the population of the state and the number of voters has increased so much that now there is no alternative. Assembly seats have also been increased in two conjoined states, Chhattisgarh and Uttarakhand.

Committee was formed on 15 June 2005 to increase the seats
To increase the seats in the assembly, the first assembly committee was formed on 15 June 2005. The then BJP MLA Kadiya Munda was the convener of this committee. The committee submitted its report on July 4, 2005. The committee had prepared a proposal to increase the assembly seats from 81 to 150. This got the approval of the whole house. After this the proposal was sent to the Central Government.

MPs had demanded
The then MP of Koderma, Ravindra Kumar Rai had also demanded to increase the number of seats in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from 81 to 150 in the Lok Sabha in 2018. Jamshedpur MP Vidyut Varan Mahato, Palamu MP VD Ram and then Ranchi MP Ramtahal Choudhary also supported it.
Demand for constitution of Legislative Council
In Jharkhand, along with increasing the number of assembly seats, there has been a demand for the formation of a Legislative Council. AJSU has said that there has been a demand for the formation of Legislative Council in the state.

Congress Jharkhand State President Rajesh Thakur said that the number of assembly seats in Jharkhand should be increased. In Jharkhand, 79 additional seats will have to be increased to 160. If the seats will increase, then the representatives will be able to focus more on the development of the area.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the number of assembly seats in Jharkhand must be increased. SC/ST seats should not be reduced at any cost. The seats have also increased in other new states. The seats in Jharkhand should have doubled by now.
