SEBI has amended the rules related to independent directors. At the same time, according to a report in the Indian Express, there are 172 independent directors in 98 public sector undertakings. Of these, at least 86 of the 67 PSU boards are associated with the ruling BJP. This information has been obtained by The Indian Express under Right to Information Act and scrutiny of records of 146 Central Public Sector Undertakings for which the data was available.
