Mumbai: Wanted gangster Suresh Pujari, in several cases of extortion in Mumbai and Karnataka, has been sent to ATS custody till December 25 by a Thane court. Please tell that gangster Suresh Pujari was brought to India late on Tuesday night after extraditing from the Philippines.
The Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials took Pujari into custody after he landed at the Delhi airport, the official said. He was brought to Mumbai in connection with the cases registered against him in Thane city. Pujari is also wanted in extortion cases in Mumbai and its adjoining areas Thane, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar and Dombivli.

ATS team led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajkumar Shinde had gone to Delhi on Tuesday evening to take Pujari into custody. He was brought to Mumbai by plane on Wednesday morning, the official said. He said that all the cases registered against Pujari in Thane city have been transferred to the Maharashtra ATS on the orders of the state Director General of Police (DGP) office. He said that these cases will be investigated by the ATS.

On being brought to Mumbai, Pujari was produced before a court here for his custody, the official said. He said that after the Maharashtra ATS, the Mumbai Police will take Pujari into custody in connection with the cases registered against him in the Maharashtra capital. Mumbai and Thane police had issued ‘Red Corner Notices’ against him in 2017 and 2018 after several cases of extortion.
The official said Pujari was on the run for more than 15 years and was caught in the Philippines in October. A total of 23 cases of extortion are registered against him in Thane. Suresh is a close relative of gangster Ravi Pujari and had parted ways with him in 2007. After that he fled abroad. He said that in his early days in the field of crime, he worked with underworld don Chhota Rajan and Ravi Pujari and later formed his own gang.
