PunePolice have arrested Sukhdev Dere, former commissioner of Maharashtra State Council of Examinations (MSCE) and the then manager of a software company, for allegedly tampering with the 2018 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The same company had conducted the exam.
An official of the Cyber and Economic Offenses Wing of Pune Police said that on the basis of information received during the ongoing investigation in the case of alleged irregularities in the 2020 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), the police detained Dera on Monday night. MSCE commissioner Tukaram Supe was arrested last week in the same case.

“A separate case has been registered against Dera for his alleged involvement in rigging the 2018 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). The matter is under investigation.” Officials had earlier said that the Pune Police had arrested Supe and a few others for allegedly taking money from students who had appeared for the TET exam promising them to pass them. Police also recovered unaccounted cash and gold jewelery worth over Rs 2 crore from Supe.
During the investigation of the case related to the attempt to leak the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) exam paper, a case of malpractices in the 2020 TET exam came to light. So far six people have been arrested in this case.
According to police, Ashwin Kumar, the then manager of the dera and GA Software, allegedly took money to tamper with the teacher eligibility test results in 2018. GA Software itself was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting this exam. Police said that during the investigation of the 2020 TET exam, the alleged irregularities in the 2018 TET exam came to light. (agency)
