Nagpur. Usually schemes are not started due to lack of funds, but if the scheme could not be started even after getting the funds, then who will be held responsible for this? Passengers coming to Nagpur station are facing a similar problem. Surprisingly, people associated with passenger organizations have also appealed to the Minister of State for Railways Rao Saheb Danve to solve this problem, but no action is being taken.
A fund of about 9 crores was allocated 3 years ago to connect platform number 8 located on the eastern gate side of Nagpur station with other platforms. Apart from this, lift and escalator were also to be built, but till now this work has not even started, due to which anger is arising among the citizens. Citizens say that lifts have been installed in Betul, Wardha, Chandrapur but Nagpur is a victim of neglect despite being an ‘A’ grade station.
In fact, on the eastern side of Nagpur, the old city including Cotton Market, Orange Market is settled. Most of the people come to the platform from this side. Platform 8 is also called the home platform because it has the facility to reach passengers directly by car. Duronto departs from this platform. In such a situation, most VIPs use this gate. The biggest problem for the passengers coming from the East Gate is due to platform 8 not being connected to other platforms. Due to this women, children and handicapped are suffering.
Earlier there was a plan to connect with Ramjhula
Earlier there was a plan to directly connect the eastern gate of the railway with Ramjhula. On the advice of public representatives, the railways had also prepared a proposal for this, but later it was rejected citing technical flaws. There was a apprehension of jam and accident on connecting with Ramjhula, but why is the work of FOB connecting railway platforms shelved? This is beyond comprehension.
Metro station is also being built
The station of Mahametro is also being built towards the eastern gate of the railway. In such a situation, there is a demand to connect the metro station itself with the FOB connecting platform 8 so that it can be easy for the passengers alighting from the metro. As the population of the city is increasing, so are the challenges. The expectations of passengers from the railways are also increasing. So now there is a need to make FOBs with new designs which are as per the requirements of the citizens.
