Lucknow: After the formation of Jalshakti Department in the state, it has become a symbol of trust in the last four-five years. Earlier the Irrigation Department meant less work, more expenditure and was dominated by dishonesty and corruption. Now the method of work has completely changed. The transfer-posting game was stopped. CM Yogi said these things on the occasion of inauguration of 17 irrigation, 175 flood control and 11 pump canal and tube well projects worth 5214 crores and one irrigation, 20 flood control and 3 pump canal and tube well projects worth 585 crores. .
He said that when our government was formed in 2017, the picture of the state was different. Irrigation projects were pending for decades. The Baan Sagar project was completed after our government was formed. The foundation stone of this project was laid in 1978 by the then Prime Minister Morarji Desai. The project went on at turtle speed for 38 years. We completed it in two years. The same was the case with a dozen projects related to Bundelkhand. Recently, the Prime Minister inaugurated Arjun Sahayak and its related project in Mahoba.
Projects carried out in a time bound manner
The Saryu Canal National Project connecting nine districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh was built in 1972. When the project does not progress on time, its cost increases and its benefits are not available to the general public. When the Saryu canal project was built, its cost was Rs 100 crore and when we completed it, its cost was Rs 9800 crore. This increased the cost of the project by 9700 crores. This is the result of the sin of those people who did not take forward the projects which bring change in the life of the common man in time and the department got maligned. We proceeded with the projects in a time bound manner. As a result, 16.5 lakh hectares of land has got additional irrigation facility in four and a half years.
Today in Lucknow, 227 development projects worth ₹ 5,799 crore have been inaugurated/founded by the Irrigation Department.
These projects will strengthen the economy of the state while enriching the farmers and the common man.
This is a new picture of new Uttar Pradesh.
Hearty congratulations to all!

… then there can be relief from the flood
The Chief Minister said that when our government came in 2017, floods were the biggest challenge. The rains were average but the floods were causing extensive loss of life and property. He said that I suggested to the department that if we channelize the rivers by dredging, then flood relief can be achieved, as a result of which good results can be obtained by spending less money. In 2018 also there was flood in eastern Uttar Pradesh. 40 districts of the state were very sensitive and sensitive to floods. Some villages near the settlement were at the very mouth of the river Saryu, but by dredging the river was diverted and the villages became safe. This problem can be solved with a little effort. In a state where 38 to 40 districts were affected by floods, it was reduced to 4-5 districts. There can be a complete solution to this problem. For this, an action plan will have to be prepared and implemented in time. Tubewells have been installed in the state by providing uninterrupted and adequate electricity in rural areas. Now solar panels are being installed under the Pradhan Mantri Kusum Yojana. Will provide free irrigation water to every tube well in the village. This will increase the income of the farmers.
Saryu canal project completed
The Chief Minister said that the Water Resources Department of Uttar Pradesh has completed the Saryu canal project connecting five rivers. Now the project of connecting Ken-Betawa river worth 45000 crores is about to come. He said that Bundelkhand had only one problem, there is no water. Due to lack of a systematic action plan, Bundelkhand was prone to drought and migration, but today many projects have been implemented there. Also, after the completion of Ken-Betwa project, there will be a permanent solution to the problem of drought in Bundelkhand. He said that by March 2022, Har Ghar Nal Yojana is going to be implemented in Bundelkhand. He said that the Ken-Betwa project would provide a permanent solution to the irrigation problem of Bundelkhand.
We take flood control measures before the floods, but before the floods there were measures- CM
The Chief Minister said that we take flood control measures before the floods, but earlier measures were taken after the floods, due to which there was loss of life. He said that the department should take flood control measures by May 15 in any case. The Chief Minister suggested to the department that dredging of rivers generates sufficient quantity of silt. If the auction is done properly, then this work can be done with the same money.
